Windows app install settings

If “Choose where to get apps” is set to Microsoft Store only, Windows may block WhatSender Pro before you can run the installer. Set it to Anywhere first.

Windows 10 and 11 can restrict app installs to the Microsoft Store. WhatSender Pro is downloaded from whatsenderpro.com — you must allow apps from anywhere on the web.

  1. Press the Windows key, type Settings, and open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Apps → Advanced app settings (Windows 11) or Apps → Apps & features → Choose where to get apps (Windows 10).
  3. Find the dropdown “Choose where to get apps”.
  4. Select Anywhere — not “The Microsoft Store only (Recommended)”.
  5. Optional: pick “Anywhere, but warn me…” if you want a reminder before non-Store installs.
  6. Close Settings, then download or run WhatSenderPro_Setup.exe again.
Why installers fail silently

When Store-only mode is enabled, Windows may block desktop installers from websites before SmartScreen or Smart App Control appears. Fixing this setting is often the first step.

Chrome download warnings

Browsers may flag new installers as “dangerous” or “virus detected”. This is a false positive — allow the download safely.

Google Chrome Safe Browsing sometimes blocks automation software downloads. WhatSender Pro is not malware — you downloaded from our official site.

  1. If download is blocked at the bottom of Chrome, click the arrow ▾ next to the filename.
  2. Choose Keep anyway or Download unverified file (wording varies by Chrome version).
  3. If a red “Dangerous” banner appears, click Details → Keep dangerous file.
  4. Only download from whatsenderpro.com or the link in your purchase email — never from random file-sharing sites.

Windows Defender & antivirus

Temporarily allow or exclude WhatSender Pro so the installer and app are not quarantined during download and setup.

Recommended: add exclusions instead of turning off protection permanently.

  1. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection.
  2. Manage settings → scroll to Exclusions → Add or remove exclusions.
  3. Add folder: your install path (e.g. C:\Program Files\WhatSender Pro or your portable folder).
  4. Add file: the downloaded WhatSenderPro_Setup.exe before you run it.
  5. If the file was quarantined: Protection history → restore the file, then add exclusions.

  • C:\Program Files\WhatSender Pro Folder
  • WhatSenderPro_Setup.exe File

Some antivirus tools report WhatSender as a PUP because the app automates browser actions. Exclude it in your AV — do not delete the installer.

  1. Open your antivirus (Avast, AVG, Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, etc.).
  2. Find Exclusions, Whitelist, or Trusted files in settings.
  3. Add the WhatSender install folder and the setup .exe file.
  4. Restore from quarantine if the installer was already removed.
  5. Re-download from our website only if the original file was deleted.

Smart App Control block

Windows 11 Smart App Control can block unsigned apps with no “Run anyway” option — you must adjust Smart App Control settings.

If you see “Smart App Control blocked an app that may be unsafe”, Windows will not run the file until Smart App Control is turned off or set to evaluation mode.

  1. Click Okay on the block dialog — the app will not start while Smart App Control is enforcing.
  2. Open Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings.
  3. Change Smart App Control to Off (Windows may warn that re-enabling requires a reset).
  4. Restart your PC if prompted, then run WhatSenderPro_Setup.exe again as administrator.
  5. After installation, you may turn Smart App Control back on — exclude the installed folder if blocks continue.
Different from SmartScreen

SmartScreen shows “More info → Run anyway”. Smart App Control does not — you must disable or change SAC policy first.

Support folder — required components

Install redistributables from the software Support folder if Excel import or Business Edition features fail on first run.

Inside your WhatSender Pro install directory, open the Support folder and run missing components as administrator.

  1. Navigate to your install path → Support (e.g. C:\Program Files\WhatSender Pro\Support).
  2. Run AccessDatabaseEngine_X64.exe (or AccessDatabaseEngine.exe for 32-bit) if Excel .xlsx import fails or shows database engine errors.
  3. Business Edition: install Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime if the embedded browser does not load.
  4. Install Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) if the app fails to start with a DLL error.
  5. Standard Edition: ensure .NET Framework 4.6.1+ is installed; Business Edition requires .NET 4.8+.
  6. Restart WhatSender Pro after each component install.
