Record voice calls

Capture WhatsApp audio calls directly in Chrome.

Start & stop recording

During an active WhatsApp voice call on web.whatsapp.com, the extension shows a red Record audio pill. Click to start — the timer counts up. Click Stop audio to save.

  1. Start or answer a voice call on WhatsApp Web.
  2. Wait for the Record audio pill to appear (bottom-right area).
  3. Click Record audio — timer starts immediately.
  4. Click Stop audio when the call ends or you want to save.
  5. File is saved to browser storage and optionally Downloads/WA-Recordings/.

Enable record buttons

If the Record audio pill does not appear, open the extension popup → Audio tab and enable Show record buttons on calls.

  1. Click extension icon → Audio calls tab.
  2. Toggle Show record buttons on calls ON.
  3. Refresh WhatsApp Web and start a new call.

Manage audio recordings

All saved voice call recordings appear in popup → Audio calls. Play inline, export to Downloads, or delete old files.

  1. Open extension popup → Audio calls tab (speaker icon).
  2. Click Play on any recording.
  3. Click Save to export to your Downloads folder.
  4. Click X to remove from local storage.

Is WhatsApp voice call recording legal?

Where are voice recordings stored?

On your computer in Chrome local storage. When you click Save, a copy goes to Downloads/WA-Recordings/. Nothing is uploaded to WhatSender servers for storage.

Can I record phone WhatsApp calls (not Web)?

This feature records calls made through WhatsApp Web in Chrome. Phone-app calls are not captured unless you use WhatsApp Web for that call.

What audio format is saved?

Recordings are saved in a browser-compatible audio format (WebM/Opus) suitable for playback in the extension and export to disk.
